I have a 97 4wd Cummins 1 ton. I get 20 MPG. The dealer told me I could expect 22MPG, but it never happened. I have had absolutly no trouble with any part of the truck in 30,000 miles. I just talked to a guy who has a 1999 Dodge Cummins that is equipped identical to mine. He gets 18 mpg at best under ideal conditions, and he has had some electrical things go wrong in under 6,000 miles. Perhaps a guy should let one model year pass before you buy. Anyone else have an opinion?
