I looked at both engines for my M37 before purchasing a 318. The 318 is twice the engine as the original 230 cu in six. The 318 is more plentiful than the 360.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told both engines use the same block and heads--the 360 has a different crankshaft and a longer stroke to gain the added cubes.
There is a balancing issue with the 360. The 360 uses a specially balanced flywheel. If you bolt up a 318 flywheel on a 360, the engine vibrates SEVERELY.
