I found some specs for wire rope. 7/16" 6x25 IWRC Breaking Strength 8.6 tons, 7/16" 6x37 IWRC Breaking Strength 8 tons. Do I need a breaking strength of 10 ton for an MU-2 winch using a snatch block? The link below has a lot of good info about wire rope.
: My first priority would be on the rating 8,000 lb, 16,000 lb and so forth. Most of the 1/2" to 7/16" wire rope I found was only rated at 3,000 to 4,000 lbs or so. If you use a snatch block with your winch you will want a cable rated at twice the capacity of the winch. Good luck.
