Message:   The early CAT's are good for about 60-70,000 miles* then they can clog. Replacement is not that big of a deal, I've bought new aftermarket for as little as $75. BE CAREFUL! If it has the two stage cat with the gas evaporation, you CANNOT bypass it without blowing up your exhaust system! The gas vapor recovery will still dump gas into your exhaust system, I blew a Cherokee about 4 feet off of the ground trying that!! ha!ha! If you disconnect the second line at the engine source, the car will run like crap because you're messing with the computers head! Just replace IF needed.

* That can happen with ANY cat equiped vehicle. I haven't had it happen with any vehicle since the 80's. If you had run leaded gas back then you'd ruin the converter, now that there is no longer leaded gas you don't see too much, if any, CAT problems happen these days.
