Message:		Related to this I have studied countless builds by top-notch race shops. The REAL experts say that three things are the absolute most important to properly build engines: ring/bore sealing, meticulous cleanliness, attention to details [clearance / blueprint included in that]. The very best builders can get more out of a PROPERLY BUILT stocker than an ignorant backwoods mechanic like myself can get out of $5,000 worth of race parts improperly assembled! How important are the details? Larry Shepard can do a full two day seminar on 'Rings' and never finish the subject! At LeMans Ferrari was running a new V-12 in pre-qualifying and couldn't get it dialed in. The American Champion sparkplugs Tech Rep wandered over to their pits and asked to take a look at the sparklers. The reaction was somewhat warm tempered to say the least, like who do you think you are, Mr. Roundy-round low-tech who do you think you're talking to etc. They [scronfully] gave him the plugs and he studied them through a loupe. "I think you need to decrease your distributor's mechanical advance weights by about 1/2 gram." They did. They won LeMans. Details. Ferraris came with Champion plugs installed at the factory ever since....
