That was sarcasm, Russ! The 'New Theory' seems to say that electricity flows from the negative to the positive. I made the battery/lamp analogy to show how stupid that is to offer as an explanation.
We're dealing with protons, neutrons & electrons so the latest tries to explain it differently and only manages to confuse. It's like changing our official language [like we have one anymore] from English to Italian. People would still be expressing the same ideas, still be making the same points in conversation and nothing at all is changed except the language of explanations. Of course all the books, signs, official correspondence would have to be re-written just so we can say exactly the same thing in a different way.
That's exatly what just happened in the field of electrical theory, as first mentioned by Terry. The books have all been re-written, the curriculum is changed, everything older is obsolete and useless, just so exactly the same thing can be explained in a 'NEW' way!
Now we're told that energy flows in the opposite direction, from negative to positive. 'Scuse me, I ain't believing it because even the simplest devices, like a lamp connected to battery, prove that's bassackwards. Power flows from battery to lamp, not from lamp to battery.
Has to do with electron flow and 'spaces' opening as an electron moves off of conductor. The last free electron has to move before the next one can take its place, this occurring at the negative end. So the electrons flow from north [+] to south [-], but the 'spaces' flow from south to north.
Explained very nicely here:
