Message:   Jimmie, this is an objective reply to your post. If u take it personal, that's your problem.

1. The entire subject of disconnecting neg first has NOTHING to do with protecting from sparks that would ignite battery gases.
see Doug's and Norm's explanation

2. The points/condensor paragraph is totally irrelevant to the question of disconecting a battery and only confuses the subject.
But since its here, the fact is that the condensor does not function as u describe. A condensor, more accurately called a capacitor, resists a change of current (amperage) in a DC circuit. The function is to make the spark hot enough to ignite the fuel. Additionaly, a capacitor will conduct AC current thru it, so by placing it in a DC circuit any AC voltage spikes will be conducted to ground. This is commonly used to suppress AC "noise", such as alternator whine and ignition sparking, that is picked up by audio eqpt in or near the vehicle.

3. Electrical current flows from NEG to POS. That means out of the neg post of the battery, thru the entire ground of the vehicle, thru the various circuits, then back into the battery thru the pos post.
