Message:   I always thought that you disconect the ground first,to reduce the chances of an ark off the tool in your hand. Its simple,while disconecting the ground,all you have to watch out for is the positive terminal.
When disconecting the hot lead first,you can ark off of nearly Any metalic part of the car. I just disconect the ground,and start wrenching.Anything more,and you may as well pull the battery clear out.

Wouldn't it be just as safe and easy to disconect the ground from the block,then the battery? Unless you have a leaky carb.
