Message:   The factory that John and Horace Dodge built to make those recoil mechanisms still stands and is still used to make rear axles(and is called Detroit axle)
It was built near Dodge Main, and is the last factory building built by the Dodge Brothers that is still standing. It is due to be replaced soon. I am hoping that Chrysler will let Dodge history buffs buy parts of the building which will no doubt be torn down.
Hudson, which was started by Roy Chapin who was the first person to drive a car over 275 miles in one day(a curved dash Oldsmobile whose transmission had been built by the Dodge Brothers)and who later served in Herbert Hoover's cabinet as Commerce secretary was merged with Nash(founded by Charles Nash who was Walter Chrysler's boss when Walter Chrysler was president of Buick) which became American Motors in 1955.
