Message:   Got a tip on a CSS in a junkyard a few days ago. It was a bit over 100 miles away, but I went and checked it out. It was pretty rough and had been cobbed up so I stripped it. Early 65 D100, dash shift auto, but had a later LA 318 installed and an ugly utility box bed. Its in the Pick-n-Pull yard, Moss landing, CA. Still has a real solid cab if anybody wants an early cab with no rot. Original color yellow, black stripes. Was repainted white and rusty red, now faded and lichen covered. Pics below.

Anybody know what these letters mean on the 4-way flasher knob? Its a factory unit, connected to an unmolested wiring harness.

Nice rustfree floors, cab is undercoated. Check out the shiney paint where the undercoating chipped off when I removed the seats. Also note the solid rockers and the channel iron frame reinforcement. The channel is welded to the bottom of the frame from rear leaf spring shackle to the front leaf spring shackle.

I have all the CSS stuff, the gauges, radio, wiring harness, chrome bumper, gutter trim, and dash shifter with cables. The best thing that is left is the cab and reinforced frame. Rest of sheetmetal is not ugly, doors are the worst. If somebody really wants to restore it as a CSS, I have the vin plate, data plate, sert sticker and will provide them to you. I had an interesting extraterrestrial experience when I removed the data plate. After drilling the rivets, I turned it over and saw that someone, 41 yrs ago, had written on the back of the plate, in yellow crayon which matched the truck color, the numbers 06. It was the 6th month in the year 06 that I removed that plate... Never seen anything on the back of a plate before...anybody else?
