Message:   I have used a filter system something like what you are asking about on a Volkswagon powered sandrail I used to have. I wanted to keep the engine protected since I was running it in extreme conditions, sand dunes ect. I had just rebuilt the motor so was starting out with a fresh engine.
I was really pleased with the results I ran the same engine for 8 years, regularly redlining it while hotroding in the dunes. Would usually spend an entire weekend or more depending on if it was a holiday weekend, probably 200-300 miles at least, and never once had to add oil. So I have to believe the filter system was crucial to keeping things clean. As far as the brand of the system ect. I can't put a name to the product it's been 10 or 12 years ago. All I can really say about it is that it was a kit I bought at a performance shop that catered to VW enthusiasts. It involved running the oil lines as you said to a remotely mounted filter, then back into the oil system again with the use of some pretty staight forward fittings. Sorry I can't give any specific information on the brand name.
I'm not sure it would benefit you that much though if you are just planning on general street use of your vehicle, and perform regular oil/filter changes.
