Message:   Alot depends on the type of repair your doing. You could wipe the bare metal down with a metal prep to help keep rust from forming if you are taking awhile to do the job. Most fillers are best used on bare metal(grind the metal so not smooth finish from sanding).Do not apply fillers over self eching primers.Self etch any bare spots not covered with fillers though. Then use epoxy primers(those with a activator/hardner)over self etch parts but not the filler. Then a good high build 2K primer over the the entire part, sand and ready to paint. Also recommend good paint products such as Dupont or PPG.Most paint suppliers have tech sheets on how to use their products. The fun starts when you get into the paints such as the new products of waterborne.Best to stay with a basecoat/clearcoat paint or acrylic enamels.Good luck ...........pat
