Message:		How do you know the build date? Is it from the sticker that says build date? If this is correct could the VIN plate be swapped from another truck? If the truck had a 440 from the factory it would not say 383 on the VIN plate. It would most likely say SPECIAL or SPEC. There would also be a SERT number that would correspond to the engine. It would probably say ENG ASSEM or ENGINE or something similar. Also the box that has horse power ratings would be labeled SPECIAL. I'm guessing somebody installed a 440 later or somebody saw a big block and said it must be a 440. That 199@4400 is your peak horsepower rating at 4400RPMs. That would be for the 383 that is on the tag.
