Message:   Chrysler has nearly 4,000 dealers. Toyota sells more vehicles with only 1500 dealers.
Each 5 Star dealer is required to buy and re-sell x amount of vehicles, they usually can't at the full rate and either deeply discount them or beg to Chrysler for relief, then the rebates start, in order to move unsold inventory, some rebates as high as $8,000.
The theory is that with fewer dealers there will be fewer vehicles in the pipeline and that will increase demand and hold the prices up.
Will it work? I doubt it, if you are selling undesired products you aren't going to move them at any price, if you have a hot product you can name you price and sell every one of them.
The jury is out on this idea, I think that something along these lines but slightly modified will be the final results, like independent Jeep Dealers with Dodge/Chrysler combined and just fewer dealers, period.
