1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton Cheby's and Fords are considered consumer trucks and are built with parts that are easily replaced.

Dodge's are considered workers (not any harder to work on) more suited towards commercial, military and industrial applications.

While Cheby's & Ferds are fine trucks, Dodge is a little stronger in almost every area. Let's not forget that New Process (NP) was a division of Chrysler and supplied heavy duty transmissions and transfer cases to Chevy and Ford.

A 100k mile Chevy feels like an engine with a lot of miles and is at the end of it's life. A \6 or 318 with 100k miles is just about broken in!

Almost every component on the Dodge is a little better. Dodge was definitely the engineering innovator over GM and Ford.

Chevy's and Fords have a softer ride and have more parts available and have an abundance of aftermarket parts available. Parts are a little harder to come by on a Dodge but then again you may not be needing to replace parts as often as the others and most of the time you can fix the problem rather than replace the problem. There are parts for the Dodge's though. This is a great place to start.

All the American trucks are fine. The Dodge is just better.
