Message:		Jimmie, yes you leave it connected all the time. It goes into what they call float mode monitoring when the battery is fully charged. I never needed anything like it before but I used to drive my truck more. Now I don't average driving it once a month, and even then usually only short distances so I need it now to keep the battery charged. You could also get one of those battery connectors with a knob that you turn to disconnect your battery. I usually see them advertised for use on antiques that aren't driven much, but if you are worried about electrical fires it might also serve as a quick disconnect. Of course, they cost a few bucks, and your method doesn't cost anything, so why change it.
