Not what you were expecting was it. I have a new battery and my charging system is in good shape but I never drive my truck enough to keep the battery fully charged. Every time I wanted to use it the battery would be dead. I picked this up at Walmart for $18 and it has proven to be well worth the cost. If you have a vehicle that you don't drive much you might want to consider getting one of these. This should also prolong the battery life since it's not good for a battery to sit with a low charge, and also now when I crank it my alternator doesn't slam the battery with a high charging rate. BTW, it has a quick dis-connect in the cord, and comes with a harness with ring terminals that you can attach to your battery and also a harness with alligator clips.
