Message:   Just rebuilt my motor and put it and the 420 back in the truck. The tranny has always been kinda greasy and the crossmember has about 1/2 inch of crud under the tranny, but chalked it up to the oil, anti-freeze and tranny lube over time.

When I put the tranny back in, I filled it up to the bottom of the plug with fluid and started driving it around.

I'm creating puddles of tranny fluid wherever I park and the weep hole on the bellhousing cover is leaking in significant drips. I fixed a leak around the top gasket, but that didn't stop the major leaks.

My question is this - since there is no seal within the throwout bearing tube (only a gasket where it mounts to the tranny case) and the method of keeping fluid in the tranny is the reverse cut "threads" on the shaft that I suppose "walk" the fluid back to the bearing - is it a matter of the fluid level reaching an equilibrium (even if it is below the bottom of the fill plug), or is something else happening here?
