If all goes as planned, by Monday night I will be driving a new Chevy 2500 pickup. First GM truck I have bought new, and first GM truck I have owned since 1973.
But, "Dodge made me do it".
I gave our 3 closest Dodge dealers a chance to buy out the lease on my current 2500/Cummins pickup, and put me into another leased Dodge 2500 with a Hemi. I never even got a phone call back from any of the three. All were told: " Call me back with a deal on the truck I have speced, or, one that is close to those specs. I will buy today if you can come up with a fair deal."
Dealer one, here in town, I hate them, has 100+ trucks in stock, some sitting there since last May. Had close to what I wanted, never called me back.
Dealer two, 40 miles away, lies to me and says there are no early buyout deals from Chrysler leasing. I give them a chance anyway after correcting their "mistake". Never calls me back.
Dealer three is about 70 miles from here. Over 400 dodge trucks in stock, many 2006 models on hand. They do not have what I want, not even close. I asked about them doing a dealer trade, don't respond very positive on that. I asked about ordering me one. Said they probably could, but seemed cool to doing that. I told them to put together a deal with something on their lot that was close to what I wanted, or, figure an order for one, and call me back. I wouild drive up to sign paperwork, and write a check if it was a deal I could live with. No call after 3 days.
So, yesterday I went down to our Chevy/GMC dealer and talked to my neighbor who is a salesman there. I drove a couple of trucks, decided on what I wanted, and in less than 1 hour we had signed a deal.
I was very tempted to buy a GMC one ton flatbed, 3500 dually Duramax diesel on that lot. Leftover 2006 priced at $26000.00. They have 4 in stock.
Where can you find a diesel, auto trans, flatbed, all rigged for trailer towing, for $26000.00?
Sweptline content: I will be pulling my 69, W200 to rallys with a Chevy!!
