Message:   so last weekend me and the wife are at dinner with the kid. this bel air i have came with all the original purchase info, including the protecto plate, and we were discussing when and if i was ever going to go and see if i could locate the original owner. so over desert we decide, what the hell, aint got anything better to do. i think i know where the area is, im pretty sure i know where the road is, so off we go on whats prolly gonna be a wild goose chase with no map. as we are leaving the parking lot i remember that years ago (around 10) when i was working for the hotel i had spotted a chevy 4 door in the nieghborhood behind the place waisting away. it was never for sale back then, but it may be now and may provide some parts i need/want. so i mention it to the wife and we decide its just around the corner, lets go see if it may still be there. so we roll up to where the old chevy used to sit, and to my dismay its gone. after a few seconds of "what if" talk i tell her to break out the owners manual and lets go find this babys original home. id love to get some more history on it. so im sitting out front of some strangers home digging thru the papers to find an address when some one knocks on my window..."can i help you?" so i gave a brief explaination and the old boy tells me that car has only been gone about a year, and the whole 20 minute back story that i care nothing about. at the first chance i excused myself and went to leave. as i round the corner the street sign rings a bell. i stop, pull over and pick up the original owners manual with the address written on it. IM ON THE ROAD, im thinking no friggin way. so i back up and yep, theres the address that was scribed on the protecto plate in june of 1967. so , after the hair on my neck goes back down, and my wife quits laughing at me, i walk over to the gentle man who i thought was waisting my time and start asking more questions, he fills me in on the last 10 years since he has lived there, and gives me the number for the son of the original owner. when i left i was stunned to say the least. i had bugged these people 8 to 10 years ago, for about 3 years to sell me the car. every time i went by there was cobwebs going from the rockers to the concrete. they always told me, "nope, thats moms car and its not for sale". funny how things work out. i guess it was meant to be. i have since talked with the son, and found out everything i was told by the guy who sold it to me was true. got a lor of good history, and found out he even remembers me stopping in from time to time to inquire about the car. he remembers me as being "persistant on the edge of annoying" LMAO!!!! guess i made an impression.
