WOW!! didnt expect to see that on the top page when i logged on. your police reference is funny norm, if i put a horizontal white stripe on the door, and a red light on top, it will look exactly like the state troopers trucks running around NM right now. and they are driving dodges also. i have been hasseled by almost all the carclub to do it, so when we cruise to a show, they could have an "escort".
the truck is a 1966 short bed. when i bought it new years weekend it was all stock. refreshed, but bare bones stock. no cut wires in the harness, no hacked in exhaust work, no extra accesories hanging from or drilled into the dash. this is the main reason i bought it.i hate fixing other peoples work. its running a poly 318 with a stromberg 2bbl, 3spd on the column, and 3.55 gears out back. seats been recovered in the stock pattern but useing all vynil instead of the cloth like insert, new carpet, paints a few years old but its all the way ma mopar made it. i have added custom cab trim to the dash, installed new weather stripping and swapped to the 7" wheels you see on it now. i have the 6"ers with the factory painted caps in the garage for when i want it to be "stock". i also blacked out the grill just to see how it would look. it came white when i bought it and was needing a new coat to cover some dings and surface rust. body is clean, small patch panels in the floor but other wise 100% in great shape. the bed floor doesnt look like it was used for much more then groceries, and not many times at that. still wears most of its factory paint. i am tickled to death to have found this truck. i have been wanting a short bed for a long time, and knew if i was patient, the right one would come along, and when it did, i dumped the crew cab at a steal of a price so i wouldnt miss out on it. future plans include magnum 500 wheels 15x8, 833 4spd w/ pistol grip, headders, 4bbl, maybe a cam, install the 3.55 sure grip sitting in the garage, tinted windows, finish the custom cab trim upgrade to the exterior, install the hd gauge set, and replace everything painted white with chrome. except the roof, it will stay white, too damn hot in NM for a black roof. if plans go my way, the poly will be sporting a/c here real soon as well. thanks for the complements guys. i always thought my crew cab got a lot of looks, but man this thing turns some heads around town. going to enter my first show with it in april. theres a rather big gathering for the area in demming. you az guys ought to come out and make sure i aint the only dodge in the whole show. |
