Message:   Did you take the switch back and get your money back?
Most problems of that nature center around a bad contact, wire, or ground caused when the wheel position is moved.
If you look in there it's a huge bundle of wires and a nightmare to track down!
It may be a loose connection or a broken wire (broken inside the insulation) a wiring diagram is a must to track down the correct color wire that serves the function you mentioned.
Been there, done that, took a few weeks, a few hours at a time, of playing with it to "discover" the circuit.
Finally took the column out and took it to Dodge for repair....= )
