Message:   You're kidding yourself if you think you can do this on a $5k budget. I'm in the process of putting a baby cummins (4bt) into a 63 crewcab, and will have closer to $15k or $18k into it when it's all said and done - and that's doing the work myself.

Little things add up fast - axle gear changes, paint, interior, body work, tires, wheels, upgrade to a 5 speed tranny, worn out door latches - replacement latches, and strikers are ~$200 per door - on a crewcab like you're looking for that's pushing a grand just to make the doors close nicely. Then there are brakes, master cylinder, clutch, rebuilding the steering/front end components. What about Air Conditioning? New gaskets for the doors and windows? It adds up faster than you can immagine. The added complication of putting a cummins in is just extra's.
