Message:   composites burn easier than shim type. that is why heavy duty applications used them, some still do. the only way a composite has an advantage is sealing the oil and water passages. But hey I just changed some original shims style on a 66 poly. I would say that lasted quite a while. I did noticed changing to the composite a slight power loss due to the lowered compression. the added thickness can add around 1 cubic inch to the size of the combustion chamber. that is a huge difference in size and noticable
