Message:   Afew weeks ago I posted about a noise seemingly coming from the inside of my driveshaft on my 87 B250. Several advised that the noise was really the rear u-joint and upon inspection it was indeed bad so I replaced it. Noise lessened, but did not go away, so I removed the driveshaft again to replace the front u-joint. Now here is the rest of the story: The driveshaft is laying on the ground, I pick up just the front to inspect the u-joint. Something inside audibly slides the length of the shaft and slams into the rear. I call the driveshaft shop and ask how much to cut the shaft, re-weld it and balance, they say $100, I can live with that, my curiosity is out of control. Inside the shaft was a length of pipe, 2" in diameter, 12" long, 1/8" thick. I suspect this van was assembled late on a Friday afternoon and the guys had already started drinking.....
