Message:   My pleasure! And yes, as Norm said, vacuum gauge will work almost as well.

Thing is the tachometer method can show a really minor rpm change, like 20 rpm, which change might be missed with a vacuum gauge. And yes, we set timing with a vacuum gauge too.

Another thing: if a guy doesn't have either a vacuum gauge or a tachometer but has a good ear: adjust to highest rpm by ear as described, then turn in each screw, one at a time, until you hear a change as rpm's drop. An audible change is probably a bit too much, so open it back up JUST to where rpm's pick up again. Without either a tach or gauge a guy wants to proceed much slower while listening.

I wanted to re-post because carburetors are disappearing in favor of fuel injection and no telling when adjustment procedure info will start fading away too?
