Message:   It was a crew cab short bed sport. I don't know if it was a 4x4 or not but it had huge shiny wheels.

I hear ya on the rust, my 2001 started rusting in 2003, garage kept, kept clean and waxed. My 01 Dakota has rust around the wheel wells. My friends 03 Ram started rusting around the wheel wells in 05. My 86 started rust just 5 years ago. Somewhere they quit galvanizing I think.
