Message:   I sent my Saginaw 525 to Firm Feel up that way. Price was good and some of their other stuff had good reputation.

I was not at all satisfied with the results. Box was packed with thick blue chassis grease for starters. This is in fact a spec grease in Chevy applications, but what's that tell you? The kings of low bidder there, Mopar say 85Wt90.

Depsite the fact of a heavy lube the new rebuilt box was leaking within weeks! They claimed that somebody missed putting silicone at upper locknut adjuster, just dope it up and all would be well.

That is not any part of Chrysler's specs, which says that the seal should seal and upper quadrant should not leak, even without silicone. I changed to 85WT90 lube and it then leaked out of pitman shaft seal as well.

Steering quickly became very heavy, seeming to be a bearing failure or some related issue. Impossible to stop leaks also. I adjusted and adjusted but still a growly feeling in box with weight off the axle, saying sub-standard bearings.

I swapped to another used box and steering was lighter & smoother, no grinding & growling, but too much slop, reinstalled Firm Feel.

I wrote several e-mails and after months of waiting the owner's wife apologized and sent me a full refund of all costs. Not much more that one can request so that settled the issue.

I'd ask them if they use American made bearings & seals and what performance one may expect as far as box being properly sealed and a long lasting rebuild?
