Message:   Quality ebbed and flowed but Dodge truck engineering did not suffer in the 70's. You bring up many points scattered but are they related to your claim that full-time or Dodge in the 70's was inferior to part time?

Chrysler spent over 50 million (early 70's money) for the redesign of the 1972 Lifestyle series trucks. Part of that was towards a full-time system which they waited a few more years to debut.

U-joints are not weaker on full-time vs. part time. (higher up on the thread) ALL DODGE trucks in the 60's and 70's had industry weak u-joints. My 66, 68 and 69 W200's had the same weak u-joints as my 76, 77 and 78 W100's!! Not any more though because myself as well as many, many Dodge truck owners swap them out with new yokes for bigger u's like 1350's and 1410's.

It may be your personal preference to prefer the part time with NP205 over full-time with NP203 and leaving it there would get no argument from me, but to say the full time 70's trucks were a "dismal failure" is just inaccurate and offensive to those of us that use them and prefer them.
