Message:   un bolt the drive line and tow home is the quickest...
4 nuts at the drum, 4 bolts at the rearend yoke.

The brake drum on the rear of the trans works much
like the rear axle e-brake systems..... Might just
bang on the drum with a BFH see if the shoes will
back off (like many of us have done over the years
with rusted brake drums).

If the cable is frayed inside the housing it may
stick like that. Or it could be that the retraction spring inside has broken.
