Message:   Picked up a nicer bed for my 66 rust bucket! My 66 bed looks ok on the outside but the floors are rusted through, the rear pillar is broken and the tailgate is completely shot. I got the replacement bed from Michael here on the forum. I took my 69 for a nice drive from L.A. to Northern Cal (Placerville) over the weekend to visit with Mike and pick up the bed.

Mike is a great guy. He spent the afternoon with me taking off the old bed and called some local buddies up to help load it on the back of my 69. Some of the bolts came off with part of my knuckles and the ones that didn't Mike took a torch to. No problem. It's nice to find people who are willing to spend their time and knowledge on you. He wouldn't charge for the bed. It was a major struggle for me to give him a few bucks for his efforts.

His girlfriend is not into the older trucks as much. She teased me a little asking if my blue 69 overheats being old and such. She's a cutie so I let it slide!!

I hope Mike participates more on the forum. He knows a lot about these trucks and has a killer machine shop. All state-of-the-art precision machining equipment. If we all have enough interest in getting hard to make/find parts perhaps he would help us. Sort of like Gordo & Norm with the headers. I can see newly minted Power Wagon hood emblems in the future! Maybe even a power steering system!!!

I think Norm has located a nice cab for my 66 as well. I can't wait to get the transformation started. I couldn't do it without the help of great guys on this forum. So far, I've been able to meet Britt, Norm and Mike. Top notch bunch!
