Purchased truck locally approx four years ago from/thru father of owner who was a former army helo mechanic who had owned it several years. Before that, it served for years as a fire department truck in Campton/Thornton New Hampshire. Converted by TECO (Truck Equip Co) of Norwalk, CT. Don't know its original "fire truck" config, but data plate from TECO reads Model: PUD 126; Serial No. TE 880; Equipment: B 1210. Managed to contact the department who remembered her well. Not sure whether the helo mechanic purchased her with the fire tank then removed it. However, did install an original 1st series bed (minus correct fenders and tail gate) he purchased from another local fellow who wanted to convert his own 1st series 49' ffpw to a flat-bed (????). He also replaced much in the way of bearings and seals in the running gear. I have what I believe to be the original T137 engine (T137-20655)(in bed of truck) but I have temporarily replaced it with a VPW engine I purchased several years ago then had completely rebuilt before instal. I continue to solely rebuild as time/$$ allow. So far: cut/replace rust in doors, front fenders, running boards; new cab mounts all way round; electrics; rebuilt (timeconsuming!)windshield frame & glass; rebuilt wiper motors; carb; generator; starter; recovered seat, etc.) Truck is incredibly ugly (beautiful to me) wearing hand-brushed red fire engine paint on cab & front fenders, fire dept. stickers on both doors, yet original sea wolf green on bed w/ black rear fenders which are not original, but suffice for now. Overall, its very solid, reliable and pretty straight. Most of all, its fun, fun, fun.
