Sounds like a variation of the Nigerian Bank scams that are famous worldwide.
Rule Number One: If it's too good to be true
it probably is.
Rule Number Two: You can't cheat an honest man.
However, you can screw a kind-hearted one. A budy and I were on our way into a Ponderosa for dinner Sunday night. A guy came up and said he only needed $2.00 to get the rest of the way to a $7.00 salad bar. Jamie kicked out $1.00, I had had a profitable day selling stuff and didn't have anything smaller than a $5.00. Even though I smelled a rat, I gave him the $5.00. He came in with us and got in line and as soon as we got involved in placing our orders, he must have slipped out because we never saw him eat.
Oh well, I still refuse to be bitter or totally cynical.
