Not to belabor a point, but let's think back to "life before Gordon". There were PW's, and M37's. But we all were kind of operating in a void. The PWA brought us all together. That's something that many people are still looking for.
I remember receiving a flyer in the mail, announcing the up-coming first addition of PWA. I'm not sure how Gordon knew to put me on this mailing list. Did I buy something from someone who gave Gordon names of possible subscribers? Had I talked to Zentmeyer, via Chrysler Corp? I just don't remember.
Anyway, it was like finding a long-lost fraternity. The magazine is still basically the same: simple, truthful, unpretentious, sometimes laugh-out-loud hilarious, sometimes tear-jerking, and read while standing in the Post Office lobby, slush dripping from workshoes, while the rest of the world rushes by.
It's you, Gordon, whom we should thank each month.
