I have 1/8 inch thick under coating under the hood that is a real bear to remove. It would turn into tar with a striper. I have done 8N Tractor Hoods befor with the water/sand mix and they turned out nice. Not as aggressive as straite sand and no heat at all. You hold the gun about 14 inches away from the metal and 4-5 gals a miniute of cold water is mixed with a small amount of sand right at the tip. I can probley blast most of the paint off with the 3200 psi water presure but the parts with the under coating and heavy rust like under the side panels inside the cab, floor plates under the cab and on the fire wall are a different story. They have been painted on with a brush and are very thick and hard. It would take gals and gals of stripper to remove it and those surfaces is not the outside painted ones they are the undersides of the metal like under the fenders. I plan to dry, treat along with sand all the metal again after this process is done and I have a full fase resperator I wear but there is no dust when you use water with the silica sand but it is like being at the beach with a rain storm throwing sand in the rain so you need rubber boots, rain gear, head gear and face protection for some of the bouncing sand that comes back at you during the process. 99+% of the sand goes away from you mixed with water and nothing is floating in the air.
