about the first time I drove my command car around the block. I'd paid $140 for the big piece, $250 for a junker to get a front end, wheels and tires. After bolting most of a truck together,I fired it up. I hadn't bothered with the radiator or whole front clip. Brakes were hard, clutch was smooth, so I went for it. Just stuck one radiator hose into the other, hose clamped them together, filled block thru heater fitting, and capped it. No air cleaner, fenders, radiator support. Made it all the way around the block, pulled into the driveway and shut it down. I wanna tell you, I was one happy camper! Then, as I looked over at the engine I noticed a fog of gas vapors rise out of the carb. At this point I recalled how tha air filter also acts as a flame arrestor, but what the hell, I had made my first shake down cruise, IT RAN! and just then... POP ! Elizabeth, I'm a coming to join you! Fortunately, after a 1 minute heat soak period, my radiator hoses had blown apart! Almost to much exitement for one day! Have fun guys, I sure did!
