Brett, go to Tech Specs under "Home" above, and then to 1955 C-3-PW. It lists 250' of 7/16 cable, as do all of the period sales literature and confidential salesman specification booklets devoted to the Power-Wagons with MU2 winches. With 250' of fiber core cable wound very tight on a MU2 drum, there is room for about 1 more layer of cable. 250 feet of cable does not quite fill the drum.
Most people do not want or need the whole 250', but if you are in the habit of always using a snatch block and double lining the cable, it can sure come in handy. Though it is true that you lose pulling power with every additional layer of cable you ad to the drum, using a snatch block and double lining more than makes up for it.
