Hall Scott built a lot of gasoline and butane engines until the late 1960's. The most common post-war versions are the 590 and the larger 980/1190 cubic inch versions. The truck/bus engines were all straight 6, Hemi overhead cam, with dual ignition. If you grew up in Los Angeles in the 1960's like I did, you should know what these sounded like- practically all of the City of L.A.'s pumpers were Hall-Scott powered Crowns.
