Robert,
The Wc-3 was an open cab like you said, more than likely the cab has been put on , you said it had the lamps on the side of the cab,the military version did no, also most civialan if not all had the fuel tank mounted inside the cab ,so if it has a filler neck or opening around the drivers door this would not be military, also the Wc closed cab, the front sheey metal is different as well as the cowl which has slightly more of an angle for the sloping type hood used on the 1/2 trucks, early trucks were equipped with civilian guages, with later trucks having military type, also look at the front windshield, military were hinged from the sides were civialian had the handle in the middle of the cab, the best way to tell waht the running gear actually is is to look at the frame serial number which you will find on the drivers side front frame rail. that is if it hasnt been worn off or rusted over or welded over.the door tag might have been original to the frame, but alot of open cabs where converted and the tag simply changed, check you email and i will send you some links to help you identify exactly what youhave, hope this helps.
