You mentioned when you parked it your Jeep did not fire. Have you checked the crank position sensor? I have heard that if it gets dirty it can't sense the position of the crank and then can not know when to fire the plugs.
I have a '91 Jeep Comanche pickup with the 4.0L engine. Good engines those 4.0's.
Anyway I have the full factory manual set if you need any questions answered.
