I guess we all want to interpret the word PUBLIC, to suit our own particular desire or need. But we can't ! Do you have anymore right to ride your loud, wildlife molesting,
earth ripping bike on Public land for your own personal enjoyment as say some couple who wants to walk unmolested trails, in the serenity of a natural wild setting being able to hear the birds and watch the wildlife that are not molested by the loud roar of your bike ? Of course you don't, so what do we do? While I love to ride allday on endless trails ,powerlines, and gaslines, I realize that is not as socially acceptable pastime as say hiking, there are times I have had my peaceful hikes interupted by the near and distant noise of bikes and ATVs. Even mt.bikes which I own and love to ride can be an annoyance when encounted on a quiet peaceful and narrow trail. We must accept the unalienable rights of the pedestrian FIRST, Offroad a mt. bike has preference over motorized equipment but, on pavement or gov. maintained dirt roads the motorized vehicle has the right of way ,generally speaking, over bicycles. Not 100% as the bikes are allowed and must obey all traffic ord.,but they do not pay road taxes
through fuel or tags. But even here the pedestrian still has the right of way, don't think so, try hitting a pedestrian sometime ,you might as well ass-end a trooper! While the right to free movement is constutional, the only real, unalienable method to this freedom is, on foot !
So while everyone has the right to go on PUBLIC land, the method and use can be restricted to insure the welfare of the land for future generations to enjoy.
I have an idea, after we take Iraq, lets start a travel agency that specializes in offroad Iraq adventures! we get unlimited access to the deserts, contract rental ATVs from the manufacturers, book trips ,rent rooms, rent ATVs, get rich have lots of fun!
We could even branch out to build miles of concrete skateboard flumes and skating paths.
Plenty of fuel and building material on hand. Iraq, the worlds largest fun park, and I thought of it first! No one wants to hike the desert anyway!
