After you get your lines buried, stop back filling the trench when your about 10 inches from the top. Then lay down some of the Bright Red flagging plastic tape the entire length of the trench. Lay a couple strips, then finish back filling. If in the future someone is digging the 'hopefully' will dig up the red flagging and STOP before they hit your lines. We do it on all underground.
Frost depth up here can exceed 36 inches.
