There are thousands of these containers out here, after all LA/Long Beach is one of the worlds biggest ports and the main shipping point for all that chinese and asia crap that you guys in the rest of the country keep buying (only a small ha!ha!). They go for dirt cheap like you said, but can only be used as temp storage at jobsites. Or for TEMP (ha!ha!) storage if they don't catch you. They are way HOT out here inside in the spring/summer/fall, sort of like a japanese torture chamber, in the shaded woods they would be fine.
