My flat bed had a smooth surface on it. But I cleaned my running boards and put it on them also and they turned out nice. I couldn't figure how I was going to keep paint on them getting in and out of the truck. The pattern shows on the running boards but I think the diamond plate design would pretty much disapear in the texture. Mark H.
