My Pete, I let 'er warm up at LEAST 15 minutes and even then, I drive REAL slow (very easy on the pedal) until all temps get to where they should be. My Ford F350 on a sunny nice day, I give it MINIMUM of 5 minutes. Ten minutes is much better. Interesting note is on the big Diesels your fan is not on all the time. It has a over-ride thermostat that kicks on at 212 and off at about 190.
