I told my wife I could allways sell a gun for more than I paid for it so it was a good investment. When we bought our new place I had to sell my Match Grade AR-15 for the earnest money to hold the deal till we sold our other place. Doubled my money on the sale of the gun and now have our new place paid for with the sale of the other home. My collection has dwindeled down a few over the years but has bailed us out when needed.
