every time you use your card, there is a risk of fraud. you are more likely to have your number swiped by a waiter then to have it violated on ebay. if you buy from sellers with good feedback that take credit cards as a matter of course, you are pretty safe. most ebay sellers depend on ebay for a good portion of their income and wont swindle you on the credit card purchase which ebay will track. they will however take advantage in describing what they think is great and you think is junk. there again, feedback limits how many times they can get away with it. like it or not, ebay is a pretty good example of a free market that regulates itself.
