Mark,
After replying to your note, I went out and looked at my door springs and they do have "loop-da-loops". Don't cut them as they are made that way to afford extra strength at the connection point. Your pulley should have bolt through the sheave that you can remove to make the installation. On the other end, mine has a an open "S" connector to make the connection. If your's does not have these features, you can get these open "S" connectors at a hardware store. Be careful working on these springs - install with the door up to remove the tension.
