I've heard that everything on a car/truck has to be rounded, (no square sheetmetal), as well as no hood ornaments to help protect the hapless pedestrian that you hit !!!
Also, yes, supposingly vehicles have to "crush" to protect the other guys smaller car. Thats also why there can't be anymore snowplow lift frames on front of trucks to give you an "unfair-advantage" in a crash !!!
