Yes, you are right. I said "also" measure that, I did not mean it was the only thing to do. More information is good, it give you something else to think about. His diamond measurement could have been OK, and the axles could have moved due to broken center bolts, the part that the one fellow called shear pins. The purpose of the center bolt is to align the spring and axle properly, to maintain an index, so to speak, not to provide a shear function.

In any case, I did not mean that was the entire answer, just an additional thing. When I was a mechanic at the IH dealership, lots of things moved on those big trucks, even when there was no collision.
